AG Catering, founded by Anel Gomez, brings the vibrant flavors of the Dominican Republic to New York City. Anel's journey began at a young age in the Dominican Republic, where she learned to cook out of necessity and soon developed a passion for it. Influenced by the cooking show "Cocinando con Eugenia," Anel honed her skills and created delicious dishes like beans, sancocho, and rice.
Anel moved to New York nearly two decades ago, where she pursued a degree in criminal justice and worked various jobs, including an internship at a local prison. Her culinary passion never faded, and she often prepared meals for her colleagues. In 2020, she decided to turn her love for cooking into a business, officially launching AG Catering in 2021. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Anel persevered, and acquired a food truck in the end of 2023.
AG Catering is a family-operated business offering a diverse menu that includes fresh empanadas, ceviche, and Colombian-inspired dishes like hot dogs with unique toppings and Colombian hamburgers. Anel's dedication to quality and authenticity shines through in every dish, with everything made from scratch, including her famous empanadas and hot dogs. As a special thanks to her customers, she’s always trying to add fresh fried plantain chips to every order!
Salsa and Sauce operates primarily on weekends, parking at right by the baseball fields in Highland Park in Brooklyn. They serve a diverse clientele, including Dominicans, African Americans, Ecuadorians, and anyone else enjoying the park that day! Anel's catering services, AG Catering, is also available for special events, offering customized menus to suit any occasion. It's our desire to prepare dishes that are made from the heart; this means that when we recreate the tropical Dominican taste, we have traveled back in time to gather the flavors from the first time a dish was ever made.
